The generator running cover, also called generator cover while running, is to protect the generator in running condition and the the generator cover, also called generator cover for storage, is to protect the generator in storage conditions.
The generators in running are very hot and also emit exhausted CO and need continuous air flow, so the generator running covers normally have a steel frame sitting on the top of the generator to support a fabric cover.
