Generator Shed is a hard shaped house which has both the roof and 4 walls in hard shape and when you place the generator inside, it protect the generator not only from the top, but also from the 4 side and the generator normally have no contact with the shed except at the top where the shed ceiling sits and locked to the generator so the shed does not shift or move in windy weather. so the shed is normally used to store and run the generator at the same outdoor location to avoid the set up and moving each time you run the generator.
Generator Cover on the market has two types: The first is pure soft cover which has no self-support at all and it uses the generator surface as the support, so this kind of cover can only be used when the generators are not running. The second type is the tent type which has the support at top but has no support on all 4 side so the 4 side covers are all free handing from the top. This tent cover protects the generator in running but normally are not used to store the generator outdoor.
